What “sale” and “sharing” mean
Under California law, “sell” means selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating a consumer’s personal information to another business or third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. “Share” or “sharing” includes disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, whether or not for monetary consideration. Certain disclosures are not considered sales or sharing (for example, disclosures to service providers under a written contract for specific business purposes, or disclosures at your direction).
Your opt-out rights
California residents (and, where applicable, residents of other states with similar laws) may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf with written permission; we may require additional verification.
Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights, for example by denying goods or services, charging different prices, or suggesting you will receive a different price or level of quality—except where permitted by law (for example, a financial incentive program that is reasonably related to the value of your data and with your consent).
Limitations
Opting out of sale/sharing does not limit our ability to use or disclose personal information for purposes that are not a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable law, such as providing the Services you request, security, debugging, short-term transient use, legal compliance, or internal analytics that are reasonably aligned with your expectations. We may also retain certain records as required by law.
